Former American tennis star Andre Agassi has faced various difficulties in his career. Some of them were personal while others were related to his family. Growing up with two brothers and a sister, Agassi was very close to his family. All his siblings tried their hand at tennis, but only Andre succeeded.

Back in 2001, the Agassi family had to go through a very difficult phase. Andre’s elder sister Tami was suffering from breast cancer. Later, Andre Agassi recalled the challenges they faced as a family and how bravely his sister acted in such a tense situation.

Agassi recalled his sister’s battle with cancer

When Tami had to shave her head to begin her chemotherapy, her brothers did it too, in solidarity with their sister. Agassi later recalled how bravely Tami took everything. “It’s quite symbolic of how she’s treated the whole fight. You know whatever stage it’s been, it’s been ‘I’m gonna hit this head on,” Andre said.

He further added, “it’s hard enough for a man to lose their hair, you know. I can assure you that. But for a woman and they’re 30 years old to go through it, for her to deal with it that way, I think just is a testament. And it speaks volumes for who she is as a person.”

Only six months later, Agassi’s mother was also diagnosed with the same ailment. However, the family stood together and came out victorious in the battle against the deadly disease.

Today, we all know Andre Agassi as one of the most successful tennis players of all time. The American has eight Grand Slam titles to his name. However, even after all these achievements, Agassi admitted that he was never in love with the game.

Speaking at ‘The Ranveer Show’, Agassi revealed that, being the youngest of four kids, his father pushed him into tennis. He further said that his father didn’t even care if it will compromise the relationship between father and son.

Later, at an age of 13 Agassi had to leave his family and go to a tennis academy, all because his father had a dream. However, young Andre started hating the game. For someone who hated tennis, Agassi has pretty amazing records to his name. We could only imagine how better his records would have been if he liked the game.
