Carlos Alcaraz is undoubtedly a star in the future of the sport. With 12 titles at the age of 20, he can certainly achieve much more if he maintains his form. However, the player comes off as a bit of a shy personality since he is still a fresher to being a top player. Observing his reserved nature, British tennis legend and ex-husband of Chris Evert, John Lloyd stated that while Alcaraz will obviously go on to win many titles, the sport needs a personality like Andre Agassi to be at the top with him.
While Alcaraz might be shy, Allan Van Nostrand, an established coach, believes that the Spaniard has skills similar to the American icon. In a podcast feature, Nostrand talked about the similarities between Alcaraz and Agassi when it came to the court. While he has the moves, as per Lloyd, the personality is absent.

John Lloyd on the absence of Andre Agassi in Carlos Alcaraz
When several players make it big in their sport, they end up adopting the playboy lifestyle as they make many connections. While several stars in the past, such as Andre Agassi, adopted such a personality, fewer players like this exist in modern tennis, at least as per John Lloyd. The three-time grand slam champion recently talked about how the tennis world needs other Agassi.
He explained that the sport requires a player who can consistently play at the top but also socialize during his downtime. He further said that Agassi was regularly spotted with female celebrities and going to parties. For him, that is what makes tennis. To further explain his point, he elaborated on the seemingly shy nature of Alcaraz.
“Someone, I think who is going to win so many tournaments anyways is Carlos Alcaraz and I think he has got a certain look about him,” he said. “Once his English gets better which it will… He’s not afraid of the cameras. But I can’t really see him going out to nightclubs with young ladies on his arm… I might be wrong but I can’t see that.”

As per Lloyd, the Spaniard lacks an outgoing personality. However, another tennis personality believes that Alcaraz amasses a similar skill set as the American player.

On the ‘Holding Court with Patrick McEnroe’ podcast, Allan van Nostrand lauded the world number 1. After his victory in the Barcelona Open, Nostrand became an even bigger fan of the player. Becoming a fanboy of the Spaniard, he praised his skill of tricking his opponent. He also praised the power of his shot. He stated that the power of Agassi during his prime is similar to Alcaraz’s power now.

Although Lloyd believes that Alcaraz is not as social as the Las Vegas Kid, he has achieved a talent indistinguishable from the American.
