Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas has been one of the in-form tennis players in 2022. Earlier today, she reached the semi-final of the Italian Open after beating Jannik Sinner in the quarter-final. Before that, he reached the semi-final of the Madrid Open and won the Monte Carlo Masters as well. Safe to say, he is feeling really confident about his clay-court game going into the French Open. In a recent interview with famous journalist Reem Abulleil, he talked about earning points from each tournament rather than focusing on the next tournament.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has a very different goal than most tennis players
In that interview, he also talked about having a goal of collecting points on a monthly basis. Currently, he’s not focusing on the French Open or any other tournaments, as he’s focusing on collecting as many as points possible from the Rome Masters.
“I’m focusing on Rome right now. Roland Garros is one tournament of the year that I get to play. I don’t really following the rankings, I follow the Race rankings, for me that’s the most important,” the Greek player revealed.

“As long as I can produce and create points that can put me up in the race to Turin, I’m happy with that. I really want to pull the trigger on many occasions and most of my matches and go for it, whether that happens at Roland Garros or Wimbledon or the US Open, I just want to score as many points, score as many points as possible. My goal is to get 1,000 to 1,200 points per month; would be great. The rest is just my tennis; I need to focus on that.” Tsitsipas further added.
This motivation from Stefanos is actually kind of surprising, as many players don’t usually have this kind of goal. Nevertheless, he has been playing some fantastic tennis for the past few months and will be one of the favorites to win the French Open.
Stefanos will face a familiar opponent in the semi-final of the Rome Masters
Meanwhile, after qualifying in yet another semi-final, the world no.5 will face the world no.3, Alexander Zverev, in his next match. Incidentally, this is their third semi-final meeting in the last four tournaments. Previously, they faced at the Monte Carlo semis, where Stefanos won. Then, they faced again in the Madrid Open, where the German won.
