Despite his long list of accolades, he is yet to win an Olympic gold medal. However, given his recent form, his quest for gold might end this year. Facing him in round one, is Bolivian international, Hugo Dellien. Ranked as the World no. 128, his fans had mixed feeling about his draw against the World No. 1. However, Hugo had a clear stance on the draw as he looks forward to facing the Serb, in what he describes as the “best dream of his life.”

“Thank you tennis”- Hugo Dellien

Hugo’s qualification for the Summer Olympic Games came as a surprise for many. However, his first draw faced a mixed reception from his Bolivian fans. Regardless, the 28-year-old remains positive, acknowledging his appearance at the iconic tournament, as he won’t let anything take that away from him.

“Some say it’s bad luck that I touched the world number 1 in the first round! I think and I tell them, you enter at the last moment to an Olympic Games when you did not even think that you were going to play and it turns out that now you are fulfilling your maximum dream,” he tweeted.

The Bolivian, who failed to qualify for the 2021 Wimbledon Championship, will soon face its winner at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Regardless, he does not let the stature of his opponent rain down on his parade. Living his dream life, he said, “This thing that is happening to me I WILL NEVER FORGET IN MY LIFE !! THANK YOU TENNIS FOR CONTINUING TO GIVE ME THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS OF MY LIFE!!”

Novak Djokovic and his history at the Olympics

Novak’s last accolade in the Olympic Games came at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he won bronze. Since then, he is yet to bag a place on the podium. Against all his records and achievements, the Serb’s history in the tournament hasn’t been a memorable one. With a shock exit in the first round once and defeat in the quarter-final of the other, his last two outings in the competition haven’t been the best.
