The Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has had a wonderful career in tennis so far. Known for his powerful forehand, Medvedev has won 19 ATP singles titles, including the 2021 US Open. Daniil tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend, Daria, in September 2018. The couple welcomed their first child in October 2022.

Recently, the Russian tennis player, Andrey Rublev, a childhood friend of Daniil, attended Medvedev’s daughter’s baptism ceremony.

Rublev was reportedly named as the ‘godfather’ to Medvedev’s daughter, Alisa. On April 8, Daniil Medvedev and his wife Daria organized a baptism ceremony for their first daughter. A close friend of Medvedev posted a picture of the same on social media with Daniil Medvedev, his wife, and Andrey Rublev.

The post had the caption, “Friends that become family. Celebrating Alisa Danilovna.”

By choosing Rublev as the godfather of his daughter, Medvedev has showcased the close bond that he shares with his compatriot and on-court rival.

Medvedev reminisced about friendship with Rublev on Twitter

Medvedev and Rublev were born in Moscow. Since childhood, the duo has been playing tennis together. They’ve been facing each other at local tournaments before they stepped into national and international events.

Last month, after securing the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, the former world no.1 took to Twitter to share about meeting his friend in the final.

He tweeted, “Fun to share the court with my good friend. Hopefully, many more finals to come. Proud of #18. Thank you to all the fans this week for an amazing atmosphere.”

Rublev was asked to explain about facing his friend in the final. He expressed huge respect to his friend while sharing about their close bond. He said, “We have great connection outside the court. We understand each other really well. We have very easy friendship. If we play some events together and we have to speed time together, I don’t know, we have always a nice time.”
