Nick Kyrgios had a nasty feud with Stan Wawrinka
Kyrgios has lost his temper several times during his career. On the court, Kyrgios made unsavory comments to Wawrinka about his then-girlfriend, Donna Vekic. In the second set of the second round match of the Rogers Cup, people heard the controversial Kyrgios saying “Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that, mate” on the court microphone.
8 years later, a tennis official shares the new details surrounding the unhealthy banter.
The retired official shared,” Wawrinka hadn’t heard (the insult live), but Kyrgios’ comments were on TV because of the microphones on the court.”
He further added that Wawrinka got to know about it from a journalist at a press conference. This led to the athlete getting furious. Wawrinka left the press conference and dashed to the locker room. That’s where Kyrgios was present.
The official recollected, “They had to be separated because, it risked degenerating quickly.”
