It is time for the world to finally gather around and witness the battle for the new French Open victor. While the defending champion Novak Djokovic had to withdraw from the quarter-final, Alexander Zverev managed to continue the streak after a massive win in Rome. While there could’ve been better chances of his win over Carlos Alcaraz, an alarming danger is expected to be waiting on the umpire’s chair for the German.

According to the latest updates, the clash between Zverev and Alcaraz is set to take place at Phillippe-Chatrier. Along with that, the announcement also gave out the names of today’s officials, with Renaud Lichtenstein being confirmed as the bearer of rules in the intense showdown. But what exactly is the pressure point for Alexander Zverev?

The German is known to not have a fluid history with the umpire. Back in 2022, Zverev made it to the semi-finals at Roland Garros where he was scheduled to face the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal. The situation turned out to be very intense as the Spaniard managed to take the first set in his name. During one of Zverev’s serve, he committed a double fault and therefore shouted out of frustration.

The same chair umpire immediately gave the German a warning for audible obscenity. Zverev was confident over the fact that his tongue didn’t slip with a bad word and therefore stepped forward to confront the official in rage. “I did not say that word. I did not say that bad word. Why are you giving me a warning? I did not say that word,” he was heard shouting

Alexander Zverev’s history with this particular umpire hasn’t been great. Now that he believes that he has made evident changes in his attitude, his levels will surely go through a test in the upcoming showdown.

Things seemed to be going quite well during the showdown between Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz. While the German is known to have a heated-up history with the chair umpire, an irrelevant call in the last set placed him in a troubled situation. Both the players didn’t seem to give up and therefore a situation came when the tables seemed to turn.

During one of Carlos Alcaraz’s second serve, the ball was seen dropping down nearly two millimeters out of the line. Despite the fact that the line official suggested the chair umpire give the decision in the German’s favor, he overruled it and allowed the Spaniard to take the lead.

While the call appeared to have hindered the confidence of the Italian Open champion, he eventually had to face a defeat. Although he stood with the runner-up trophy in his hand, the local crowd regarded him with immense support.
