Carlos Alcaraz is preparing for the battle to win his first Grand Slam at the French Open. The current World No. 3, who is making his comeback after being sidelined due to his arm injury, is all set to claim the third Grand Slam of his career. However, behind the scenes of Alcaraz’s rise to success, lies the hard work of his coach, the former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero. Although Ferrero’s constant support of Alcaraz is always visible, very little is known about his personal life, especially that of his wife and children.

The 44-year-old player, Juan Carlos Ferrero, has enjoyed a good run in the tennis world during his 14-year career. The 2003 French Open winner has an astounding record in tennis, with 16 ATP titles to his name. However, nicknamed “Mosquito” because of his speed and slender physique, Ferrero also had the support of his long-term girlfriend by his side throughout his career.

In 2015, Carlos Alcaraz’s coach further extended his family by marrying his girlfriend, Eva Alonso, three years after retiring from tennis. On the day of their marriage (in July), the Spaniard posted a heartwarming tweet with photos of their wedding.

Carlos Alcaraz’s coach reveals his deep connection with the Spaniard

Carlos Alcaraz has been working with coach Ferrer since 2019. But their off-court relationship dates back to when Alcaraz was just a teenager. Recalling those moments, the two-time ATP Finals Champion said, “I mean he’s like my fourth kid, I have three kids at home, and he’s the fourth. I love the situation that we create, we create something more than a coach and a player and we hold a great respect for each other.”

Furthermore, he also mentioned how he caught his attention due to his unique style of play. “People came to me and told me that there was a boy that plays very differently. Playing a lot of drop shots, going to the net, and very dynamic on the court.”

Ferrero’s constant guidance has helped the Spaniard achieve milestones in tennis. With thirteen ATP titles to his name, Carlos Alcaraz has already been at the top of the tennis ranking in 2022. However, right now, the former semifinalist of the French Open is gearing up to win his ultimate battle at Roland Garros. With his coach’s support by his side, the tennis world is waiting to see another of his great performances this season.
