Rafael Nadal opens up about his last visit to the French Open. The fans were weeping in sadness ever since the Spaniard announced that this year will mark the end of his professional career. Despite the physical hardships and mental setbacks he had to face in the recent tournaments, Rafa is now looking forward to participating in what could probably be his last Roland Garros. But there’s a catch!

Nadal is currently preparing for his opening match at the French Open against Alexander Zverev. While fans already have doubts about his fate in the tournament, all they wanted to hear was if he was sure about his exit. On being inquired if this really is the last time when fans see him playing at the courts that he once ruled, the Spaniard oozed confusion.

“It’s a big, big chance that it’s going to be my last Roland Garros,” Nadal said. “But if I have to tell you it’s 100% my last Roland Garros, sorry, but I will not, because I cannot predict what’s going on. I hope you understand,” he said-, not being sure himself about the retirement plans.

“I have been going through a long process of recovery with a very difficult injury, almost two years of suffering, but I feel better now. I have fewer limitations than three, four weeks ago, without a doubt. So in a way I don’t want to close the door 100%,” added Nadal. “I love tennis, I travel with my family and we are all happy.” Rafa requested some time, acknowledging that in a month and a half they might decide to stop. However, he stressed that he couldn’t guarantee this would be the final attempt.

Rafa, who possesses a massive record of 14 French Open titles, is surely the player fans wish to see in the event. However, considering the fact that he had to travel a difficult road full of physical hardships, including a hip injury, the fans had doubts about his performance levels this time. Regardless of the previous performances, it seems like the Spaniard has found a miraculous fix that is consistently supplying him with confidence.

While he has tested the levels in practice sessions, he mentioned noteworthy desire, saying, “Let’s see if I can do it in professional matches now.”
