And just when the match started, an X post further confirmed his presence in the stands! The story of Alex De Minaur’s superfan started during his third-round battle against Jan-Lennard Struff. His young fan, whose name is a mystery to the tennis world, was present during the 25-year-old player’s hard-fought win (4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3). Apart from the nail biting moments and rain-interrupted battle on-court, the tennis fans also witnessed a young fan cheering for De Minaur throughout the match.

As the camera panned towards the kid every time he won a point on-court, the enthusiastic fan was seen celebrating the points gained with roars and by pumping his fists. What added more to the heartwarming incident was when the Australian player also joined in to pump up the fans and himself from time to time during the match.

Naturally, when he won the match, he not only secured a place in the fourth-round but also in the heart of that young kid once again! The former world No. 9, happy at his young fan’s support, went to him and hugged him tightly after giving him a handshake. That video went viral after the match, and everyone started referring to him as a “superfan.” Later, after the match, Alex De Minaur himself addressed the subject and expressed his gratitude to his little fan on-court.

Alex De Minaur describes how his superfan gave him “life” and energy during his latest match

Alex De Minaur’s rivalry against Struff dates back to 2018, when they first clashed in the Indian Wells. But soon, De Minaur generated a lead over him, which now stands at 4-2. Despite winning against him several times, the match proved to be quite tough for the Aussie, who admitted, “I just told myself the only chance or way I was going to win this match was just to fight till the end. Fight every single point, keep battling, try to stay in no matter what. And that’s what got me the win.”

However, when he received an unexpected fan’s admiration throughout the game, it also heavily boosted his confidence. “I don’t understand what this kid was doing. But, oh, he gave me life. The fact that he’s spent 10 hours at the court today in the freezing cold pumping me up. I was happy that I was able to get a win together with him,” he said later.

However, whether De Minaur produces the same result this time on-court, only time will tell. But either way, his superfan’s gesture throughout the match will be interesting to watch again!
