Playing at the highest level in sports, emotions are sure to be on display by the sporting superstars. However, none are like what Andrey Rublev displayed earlier today. The Russian tennis star was involved in his third-round match at the French Open against Matteo Arnaldi. Things didn’t seem to go his way throughout the match, as his Italian opponent inflicted a straight-set defeat on Rublev. On multiple occasions, Rublev was seen venting his frustration.

After his match, Eurosport shared a compilation of Rublev’s violent outbursts on social media. In the video, the Russian star could be seen smashing the racket on his knees to begin with. However, Rublev didn’t stop there, as the clay court was next to get a bashing from his racket.

Further controversy was created after a close-line call didn’t go his way. The chair umpire subsequently intervened and stepped onto the court to see the mark. However, the call stood against Rublev after he had a lengthy argument with the umpire. Later, a visibly frustrated Rublev was also spotted screaming his throat out after things took a turn for the worse.

Meanwhile, Rublev is infamous for his show of anger during his matches. In the past, the Russian star has been reprimanded several times after violent outbursts. However, he made a sincere admission about anger control after earning a bad reputation for the same.

Andrey Rublev makes a candid confession about improving his behavior

Earlier this year, the Russian star faced a massive punishment at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships for unsportsmanlike behavior. Rublev was disqualified from his match against Alexander Bublik after shouting at the umpire multiple times. Subsequently, during an interview, he revealed how he’s taking anger management seriously and that it’s a work in progress.

Rublev said, “I’m improving and not because of the warnings. I would like to believe that it is me who is the one who is improving. It doesn’t matter the situations that I had.” Further, he went on to add, “I had many, many warnings in life already that show me that I need to be more calm, so it was not only with Dubai doing but in general many times that I was close to doing something not good, and I was lucky that everything went well.”

The Russian star would look to come back strongly in the grass-court season after the French Open debacle. However, first, he would have to learn to manage his anger, which has a direct correlation to his on-court performances.
