In last night’s quarterfinal clash, Nadal defeated Djokovic to enter the semifinals of the tournament. In a battle lasting four hours and 12 minutes, Nadal prevailed on the Court Philippe-Chatrier in four sets. After the match, Djokovic opened up about playing in night sessions at Roland Garros.

During the post-match press conference after his quarterfinal defeat against Nadal, Djokovic talked about the tournament introducing night sessions. He said, “There are different opinions on the night sessions. I think it’s too late to be honest. But the TV give the money, they decide, it’s the world we live in.”

Djokovic was the defending champion at this year’s French Open. He was due to defend 2000 ranking points that he had won last season. However, with his quarterfinal exit, Djokovic is set to suffer a major blow to his ATP ranking. The Serb will lose his top spot when the ATP rankings will be updated after the tournament.

Nonetheless, it was a terrific performance by Nadal, who shrugged off his injury concerns. Before the French Open, the Spaniard faced troubles with his foot injury during his loss against Denis Shapovalov at Rome Masters.
Nadal doesn’t prefer playing in the night sessions at Roland Garros
Recently, the 35-year-old spoke against playing in the night sessions in Paris. He said, “I don’t like night sessions on clay. I don’t like to play on clay during the night, because the humidity is higher, the ball is slower, and there can be very heavy conditions especially when it’s cold.”
