There has often been a debate about the greatest player of all-time in men’s tennis. The discussion has been focused on Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, who have enthralled fans worldwide with their audacious displays for the past two decades.

Before the start of this season, all three players were tied at 20 Grand Slam titles apiece. However, Nadal edged ahead of Federer and Djokovic by winning the Australian Open. It was a gritty display by Nadal, who came back from two sets down in the final against Daniil Medvedev to win the title Down Under. Recently, he opened up about the GOAT debate in tennis.

Rafael Nadal gives his views about the GOAT debate

The Spaniard is currently in Paris to participate in the French Open 2022. During his quarterfinal match against Djokovic, Nadal put on a great display to overcome the Serb’s challenge in four sets. Subsequently, he talked about the GOAT in tennis. Nadal said, “Novak, Roger, and myself have an incredible story together. It makes the story more special, more emotional. From my perspective, the discussion on the greatest, the nb of Slams, it doesn’t matter that much. We achieved our dreams.”

Further, it turned out to be a memorable evening for Nadal. With the crowd support behind him, Nadal won some crucial points in the fourth set which proved to be decisive in the outcome of the match. Chiefly, he avenged his last year’s semifinal defeat against Djokovic at Roland Garros.

Nadal’s journey ahead at the French Open 2022

After his quarterfinal victory over Djokovic, Nadal will face Germany’s Alexander Zverev for a place in Roland Garros 2022 finals. Earlier, Zverev had defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the other quarterfinal.
