After winning Grand Slam and Masters 1ooo titles this season, Jannik Sinner previously attained the number 2 ranking on the men’s tour. Now that the current number-one Novak Djokovic is withdrawing from the French Open, the Italian player will move to the No. 1 spot on Monday for the first time in his competitive journey. However, Roland Garros is already hailing Sinner as the number one, and it has irked a flurry of Djokovic fans on social media.

Djokovic pulled off some phenomenal comebacks against the likes of Lorenzo Musetti and Francisco Cerundolo as he secured a place in the quarterfinal rounds of the French Open. However, during his fourth-round match, the Serbian tennis star recently picked up a knee injury, which has now forced him to pull out of the tournament. Due to the same reason, the current number-one player will now be dethroned by his Italian colleague, Sinner, who has reached the semifinals.

Following his quarterfinal victory against Grigor Dimitrov, the official Twitter page of Roland Garros lauded the 22-year-old player for his first win as the number 1 ranked player. The post stated, “FIRST WIN AS WORLD NO.1 ✨ #RolandGarros #S1NNER” As the rankings will change on Monday, Djokovic fans were quick to lash out at the page for already hailing him as the new number 1 player on the tour.

“Thanks to your scheduling and poor court treatment”- Djokovic fans react to Roland Garros’ post for Jannik Sinner

As the Italian tennis sensation is still the number 2 player on the tour, a user flocked to the comments section to remind them of the same by labeling it a ‘wrong’ post.

While calling it a ‘pathetic post,’ a fan blamed the French Open authorities for not removing the moving powder on their clay courts. The user suggested that the official’s refusal led to the Serbian player’s injury as he slipped on the Parisian clay.

A fan called it ’embarrassing’ and also asked the French Open to ‘show some respect’ to the ‘Djoker’ as his number 1 ranking doesn’t change until Monday.

Another fan labeled the “scheduling and poor court treatment” at the French Open as the reason behind the Serb’s injury withdrawal.
