Alexander Zverev is caught between a rock and a hard place. While on-court, he is competing at Roland Garros. Off the court, he is also handling a trial in Germany. And for weeks, the tennis world has been abuzz with Zverev’s ongoing trial clash with his French Open tournament. However, the German tennis pro went on to perform at his best and has already qualified for the third round in Paris. However, currently, all eyes in the tennis world are on his domestic abuse trial.

And he explained why, “Because, at the end of the day, I do believe in the German system. I do believe in knowing the truth as well. And I have to be certain that you know I do know what I did, I do know what I didn’t do. And that’s at the end of the day what’s going to come out, and, um, I have to trust in that.”

Zverev, who is due to play Tallon Griekspoor in the third round of the French Open, believes that there is no chance he is going to lose the trial. And this is the reason why he can play so calmly on-court. And the tennis world saw a glimpse of that in his latest match in Paris as well.
Alexander Zverev is “happy” after his second-round match against David Goffin
After avenging himself against Rafael Nadal in his first round at Roland Garros, Alexander Zverev’s determination to excel further showed in his battle against David Goffin as well. The Italian Open champion took full dominance over the former world No. 7, finishing with a score of 7-6, 6-2, 6-2. But like a humble winner, he looked back at his performance and gave an analysis and criticism of his form in the match.

“When it is heavy, when it is slow, it is not ideal for me. I am someone who likes to be extremely aggressive, so when it is like that, it is not ideal. I felt the ball well today.”
Further addressing his opponent, he added, “Maybe a few mistakes but I knew David is an incredible player and someone who was difficult for me in the past. It showed in the first set, but I am happy I ran away with it.” As Alexander Zverev continues to shine on-court in Paris, his trial in Germany might or might not give him the truth that he is waiting to hear.
