Thousands of fans are eager to see Roger Federer at Roland Garros, itching for a glimpse of the tennis legend! However, the big question is whether that’s even possible. The 20-time Grand Slam champion has made it clear that he won’t be stepping onto the clay courts. Despite being in Paris at the same time, he has also disclosed a precise explanation for his absence from the event.

In a recent conversation with Lequipe, the former world number one shared his clear intentions of not wanting to go to Roland Garros without any reason. He stated, “I would like to go back there like at Wimbledon last year, but for a good reason, otherwise people will ask me: ‘what are you doing there?’

It won’t be wrong to say that the way he has inspired fans in the past with his tennis racket, the same thing the form of world number one wants to continue with his clear intentions of what he wants next. Not only that, but currently he is in Paris, where the 42-year-old tennis legend was once again seen gripping a racket and engaging in tennis play.

The Swiss maestro was recently captured on camera honing his forehand and backhand strokes at a UNIQLO event for his clothing brand. On the other hand, he also inaugurated a tennis court as part of his brand collaboration with Uniqlo during his time in Paris.

Although he is ready to miss the French Open chaos, he doesn’t miss to arrive at Wimbledon after his retirement. After retiring in 2022, last year he came back to the center court, where Wimbledon paid tribute to him. As the legendary Swiss athlete stepped into the royal box, the Center Court audience welcomed him with applause and a long-standing ovation.

Looking at the way he had a history with Wimbledon, he won eight Grand Slam championships there. But at the same time, when it comes to the French Open, it’s not the right time for the 42-year-old Swiss tennis legend to make a visit yet. However, last year the 20-time Grand Slam champion revealed that he has no problem watching tennis matches from the stands.

Roger Federer enjoys watching tennis matches – ‘felt very content’

Last year, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Swiss tennis legend reflected on watching leaving the playing part behind but enjoying watching the tennis matches. Not only that, he also revealed that his father asked him if he felt the urge to play tennis while watching others play.

He said, “I felt very content and at peace, sitting and not playing. Because a year before [in 2022], when there was the 100th-year celebration of Centre Court, I felt that I maybe didn’t want to be there. It was important for me to be there, but it was a crushing feeling I had, a twisted feeling I had.” In addition, he also highlighted how not only was he just happy to be back at Wimbledon, but even the people were happy to see him back in a different role.
