He shaped Roger Federer’s extraordinary career to some extent. The 46-year-old had been on mighty Federer?s side since 2007 and shares credit for many of his victories.

Surprisingly, Luthi was also a part of Switzerland’s Davis Cup team when Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka won the cup for Switzerland. In one of the interviews, the swiss coach reflected on his early failed career before he joined Roger Federer’s team.

Severin Luthi, in one of his previous podcast interviews, spoke about Roger Federer, his career achievements, and their bonding. During the interview, he also shed some light on his career’s failure before his time spent under Federer’s shadow.?

?I always liked to have the team, and also, like in the Davis Cup, you know, there is also a team,? he said. He continued by saying, ?You know, that’s probably also the reason why I stopped at earlier playing because yeah, honestly, I felt pretty lonely there, but with Roger’s career, I could maybe live what I didn’t do in my own career.?

Coming to Federer?s reason for retirement, the swiss maestro hasn’t played in any of the major ATP tournaments since the previous year?s Wimbledon open, owing to his knee injury. He couldn?t fully recover to the point where he could compete on the same level as the other pros. As a result, the former world No. 1 had to eventually bid adieu to his career.
