World No.1 Novak Djokovic missed his opportunity to achieve the Calendar Slam at the US Open 2021. He suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of World No.2 Daniil Medvedev in the finals, who also ended his 27-match winning streak in the Grand Slams.
Novak Djokovic led a beautiful campaign at the US Open 2021. Even though he lost in the finals, he fought like a warrior and ended up as the runner-up of the tournament.
In a recent article, Djokovic’s first opponent at the US Open 2021, Holger Rune, revealed how he felt when he got to know that he had to face the Serbian legend in his very first match at the Grand Slam. He described his feelings and mentioned that his heart started beating at about 200 mph.

“Lying in bed, I checked my Instagram and someone had messaged me saying that I was playing world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the first round. I was speechless and my heart started to beat at what felt like 200mph. It was so crazy. This is a player who I look up to so much. I have trained with him in Monaco and he is not just good, he is exceptional – the complete player,” wrote Rune.
Rune trained with Nole in Monaco. When he first got to know that he would be up against the World No.1 player, he almost became speechless.

Rune disclosed that he enjoyed playing against Djokovic and it was a fabulous match. He even remembered that he almost felt like Roger Federer when everyone was cheering for him in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“When it came to the match, it was fabulous. Everyone was cheering and people were yelling my name. Initially, I did not know what they were saying, but when I found out they were calling my name, I was so happy and almost felt like Roger on court,” added the youngster.
The 18-year-old Hulgar Rune has a bright future ahead of himself. Fans have huge expectations from him and want him to prepare himself for the difficult challenges now. Will he be able to win an ATP title this year?
