Canadian tennis player Felix Auger Aliassime has been a rising star on the men’s Tour over the past few years. 2021 has been a good year for Aliassime on the tour as he made his debut in top 10 in November this year. Felix made a remarkable addition to his coaching team when it was revealed that Toni Nadal joined the Canadian’s entourage in April.

Recently, Felix Auger Aliassime spoke about the influence of Toni Nadal in his team. The youngster was glad just to be in the presence of the veteran. The expertise of Toni in Rafa’s career has been one of the most successful partnerships in this sport and for Felix to receive the same coaching is a definite advantage.

Felix Auger Aliassime praises Toni Nadal’s involvement

Under Toni’s guidance, Felix reached his first semi-final at the US Open this year and made his debut in the top-10. The 21-year-old is currently ranked 11th and will surely be hoping to grab his first ATP title next year.

Speaking on the importance of Toni, Felix stated, “Through conversations and through work on the court, I think I’ve been able to just learn and kind of take in information from Toni and process it. To see what I can improve and him being there is a huge source of motivation and more than anything it’s confidence and trust… He brought confidence that reaching the semifinal of the Grand Slam and challenging the best players in the world is something that is doable.” 

Coming to tennis, just as the clay season began, Auger Aliassime made the announcement of Toni Nadal joining his team. It took the world by surprise, as not many could see Toni coach anyone besides Rafa. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what the duo manages to do in the upcoming season.

Felix reached the quarterfinal at the Wimbledon Championships and went on to reach the semifinal at the US Open. These are his best performances in Grand Slam events so far. All eyes will be on him when he steps on the tennis courts once again.
