Roger Federer and Feliciano Lopez are the two of the oldest players that are still active on the ATP Tour right now. While Federer recently celebrated his 40th birthday, Lopez will turn 40 in September 2021. However, it was Lopez who turned professional a year before the Swiss Maestro.

Feliciano Lopez recently lost to Lloyd Harris in the second round of the National Bank Open 2021. Even though he failed to win the tournament, he achieved a unique feat in Toronto.

Lopez played his 138th Masters 1000 tournament when he stepped on the court at the National Bank Open 2021. As a result, he is now tied with Roger Federer for the most appearances at the Masters’ events. Interestingly, if he plays at the Cincinnati Masters 2021, he’ll even surpass the Swiss Maestro and become the player who has played the most number of Masters in his career.

Lopez already attained an incredible record at the Wimbledon Championships 2021 when he appeared in his 77th consecutive Grand Slam. In addition, his participation at his 21st Roland Garros, which he registered at the French Open 2021, is also a record in itself.

On the other hand, in his 24 years of professional tennis career, Lopez hasn’t won even a single Masters 1000 tournament. In the doubles category, although he played two finals at the Italian Open 2014 and the Monte Carlo Masters 2017, he failed to end on the winning side on both occasions.

Thus, even though Feliciano Lopez has had a long career, he has not been too consistent on the tour. However, fans still have huge expectations from the Spaniard. Will he be able to win a Masters 1000 title before bidding goodbye to the sport?
