For much of the quarter-final contest between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev, the Canadian was on top of his game and dominated Medvedev in every aspect. But, the Russian managed to slow down the pace of the game at crucial moments and pulled off an incredible victory to reach the semis.
It was just the second time that Medvedev fought back from a two-set deficit and ended up victorious. Also, the defeat will be a heart-break for Felix, who gave it his all played some of his best tennis on Rod Laver Arena.

Medvedev, who will face long-time foe Stefanos Tsitsipas on Friday, talked to Eurosport about the match and pointed out to a stat related to the number of sprints he did throughout the contest.
“What I’m seeing right now on the screen is that I’ve done nineteen sprints. Really, four hours forty. What is this stat, you know? I feel like I’ve done 175.”

As usual, Medvedev was his typical funny self with the media after registering a hard-earned victory against Felix. Medvedev struggled to keep up with the Canadian’s intensity in the first two sets and even faced a match point in the fourth. But he served accurately when needed the most, and that got him out of trouble.

In the deciding fifth set, both players went toe-to-toe and refused to give anything away. However, Medvedev’s experience of playing big matches helped him as he put the right amount of pressure on Felix to extract the break of serve.
However, the Canadian was determined to compensate as he fought hard to break back but in the end, Daniil Medvedev was too good for Felix Auger-Aliassime’s game to breach and get a hold of the match.

The memorable battle consisted of numerous enthralling rallies, and the World No.2 managed to edge past Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the Australian Open semis.
