‘Fedal Gives Me 500 Years of Life’- Tennis World Laps Up Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as Nostalgic Video of Their Friendship Goes Viral

The 2009 season had many ups and downs for Roger Federer. After losing to Rafael Nadal in an intense five-setter in the Australian Open final, Federer withdrew from tennis for a month citing a back injury. Later in the year, Federer won the French Open and the Wimbledon. However, he lost in the US Open final against Juan Martin del Potro, ending his winning streak at the US Open. Although Federer ended up as a runner-up in two finals, his rivals were supportive of the Swiss. After the Australian Open final, Nadal consoled Federer after the match.

In the award ceremony after the match, Roger Federer broke down before he could give his runner-up speech. He tried composing himself but failed. The crowd appreciated Federer’s game. However, what won everyone’s heart was Nadal going up to the podium and comforting Federer.
