Novak Djokovic and longevity are two words that are highly associated with one another. For over a decade and beyond, the Serbian sensation has dominated the tennis courts and made everyone fall in love with his unique skills. Not only this but with 24 grand slams to his name, the Serbian player knows no stopping. However, this year saw the rise of some youngsters who were all set to make an impact on the tennis courts. In a recent interview, Wally Masur came ahead and suggested that he thinks Novak Djokovic has the upper hand at the Australian Open because of his success in longer matches. But Masur also sees a change that is soon upcoming in tennis. Masur suggested that young players like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are on the rise and could take over soon.

He praised Alcaraz and Sinner for their strong shots and athleticism. Not only this but he also noted Alcaraz’s growing skill at the net and how Sinner is also improving there. According to Masur, these young guns are the future of tennis.

“I probably say he goes into the Australian Open as favourite, given the five-set format but I think every day Alcaraz and Sinner are improving and I think they’re coming. I see them as the sort of the heir apparent, just because of the quality of their ground shots, they’re good athletes, they’ve got easy power,” said Masur.

He further added, “Alcaraz in particular is developing an incredibly good net game, good transitional game. Sinner is starting to work on that too. Everything’s just going in a good direction for those two players.”

Although Masur predicts Djokovic to do well, he hints that the era of Djokovic’s dominance might be winding down. His thoughts suggest that the rise of Alcaraz and Sinner could shake things up in the tennis world.

However, not long before, the Aussie legend came ahead and shared his words of admiration for the Serbian star and suggested that he is by far the greatest player ever.

Wally Masur gives his opinion on the Serbian legend

In an interview earlier, Masur came ahead and suggested that Novak Djokovic is the greatest player of all time. Not only this, he also talked about how well he is doing and that he does not see a way to stop the Serbian legend. Adding further to his statement, he suggested that many players have a soft corner that can be exploited in the game but when it comes to Djokovic, it is hard to find that.

“The greatest player ever. I literally do not know how you stop the guy. When you look at players, most of them do a few things really well but they’ve also got holes that you can exploit or they’ve got days where they don’t mentally have the resolve,” said Masur.
