It’s a very personal relationship,Roger Federer says of his newly launched RF collection of racquets by Wilson. His racquet has been an extension of his artistry on the court, utilizing which he has earned 20 Grand Slams in his career! Through it all, his family and his two pairs of twins’ presence and love for him have made the whole scenario picture-perfect. The Swiss player has always been appreciative of it. And when the time came to pay a subtle homage to his constant source of inspiration, his two girls and two boys, the 43-year-old showed it with a special edition of his new RF racquet!

In an interview with Tennis Channel, Federer unveiled his latest RF 01 collection of racquets, which are inspired by his twin daughters, Myla and Charlene, and twin sons, Leo and Lanny, on his birthday, August 8. Keeping in mind his children’s comfort, he introduced two thin white pinstripes to the frame, improving the grip, texture, and aesthetics of the racquet.

When asked about the story behind the pinstripes, Federer said, The pinstripes, the double pinstripes if you like, and that was a nod to my children. Because you know, having twins, two sets of twins so we have obviously the pinstripes here, pinstripes here, pinstripes everywhere. But it’s very subtle because I did not want it just to be about family all the time. Because I know a lot of people do that, while showing the racquet in the interview. This became one of the many times Federer has talked about his children as inspiration.

Here’s how Roger Federer’s latest RF racquet collection was born!

It was 2022, and Federer was struggling with his knee, which ultimately forced him to retire in September. That was when he approached Wilson about a new idea for racquet design. He used the RF 97 Autograph, which was good for his backhands, but it slowed down the player’s pace on-court. As Wilson and Federer continued to work on their project, the former World No. 1 player kept building on his idea about the design of the racquet.

“As we started building it, I was still thinking what do I need to come back? I started thinking for other players, what could they also use? I was doing quite extensive racquet testing and we landed here in a spot where I think the weight, the size, the shape of the frame, we landed on this very quickly, Federer said in the same interview.
