Playing against Rafael Nadal is one dream that every budding tennis player always has. But what happens if they end up defeating him? Twice? One such player is the German-Jamaican player Dustin Brown, who achieved this feat back in 2014 and 2015. However, now he has become one of the victims of online bullying. Social media has increased the accessibility of such malicious behavior to reach out to not just tennis stars, but renowned personalities all around the world.

The player revealed the hate he has been receiving and how the haters have also reached out to his wife. The horrid tales of online bullying of tennis players are increasing and Brown wants social media platforms to take action against such people.

It was back in 2014 when Dustin Brown caught the eye of tennis enthusiasts. This was right after he had defeated the Spanish tennis legend at Halle Open. However, it was not just a stroke of luck that secured his victory over the 22-time Grand Slam champion. The German-Jamaican tennis player once again proved his skills when he met Rafael Nadal in 2015. In Wimbledon’s second round, Brown defeated the Spanish star once again and rose to fame.

However, this did not secure him from online bullying. Betting on tennis is as destructive as any other sport and the ones who lose their money get to the tennis players through dreadful messages. However, with Brown, it was not just him who was on the receiving end. The haters reached out to his wife too.

The player took to his Twitter and Instagram to share the hate message his wife recieved. It stated, “Aren’t you ashamed of being married to a black score-fixer? with a corrupt n**g*r? beware, one-day angry gamblers will kill you.” 

Brown voiced his concern for his wife, who had to receive such messages. He stated, And This Is What Also My Wife Has To Deal With Now…” Furthermore, he tagged Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and asked them to take action against such people. Brown stated, Its Time Things Change & Ppl Dont Get To Hide Behind Fake Accounts… Time For @instagram @facebook @TwitterTo Hold People Accountable…”

What is even more shocking is the fact that this is not rare. Recently Joao Sousa, a Portuguese tennis player, also had to endure the dread of receiving such messages.

Portuguese tennis player faces anxiety because of haters

Sousa has won four ATP titles and has been a part of the Top 30 ATP players in the past. Recently, he took to his Instagram stories to share the anxiety he had to go through before playing matches.

The haters used slurs and sent death threats to him for losing matches. Soussa confessed that such messages were the reason he started feeling anxious before playing a match.
