The victory against Taylor Fritz was easy-breezy for Carlos Alcaraz Garfia. However, despite his marvelous form on the Tour in recent months, it seems like winning is not his default setting. The Spanish tennis sensation lost to the Italian star Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of the Miami Open. The defeat surely wouldn’t have tasted good after reaching the semi-finals but fortunately, Alcaraz has a different approach towards it as compared to Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian player is undoubtedly not a “good loser”. He has had trouble managing his emotions when he knows that he is going to lose and the post-match conferences are also quite heated up for him. But Alcaraz manages his emotions in a different way, as he recently detailed after an unfortunate defeat.

Tennis is a sport that can literally turn the tables in a moment. One point is all it takes to change the course of the match, and that can be trigger the collapse or the triumph of a player. And Daniil Medvedev experienced this recently as he reached the finals of the Miami Open.

On the other hand, Alcaraz did not secure a spot against him and ended up getting defeated by Jannik Sinner. So, when he was asked about his approach after losing, “I mean, after the match, like the 15, 25 minutes I can’t talk to anyone. I was on my — complaining a lot, everything is like sh*t for me,” he said while smiling.

However, after the initial bickering with himself, he changes his stance. He stated, “But after 20 minutes, 25 minutes, you know, I recall myself, I start thinking about positive things, about the match, about the season, about the tournament, and talking with, my team, my family, and yeah, after that starting to have good things on my mind.” Ending everything on a happy note, he said, “You know, I come here smiling. It’s after the 20, 25 minutes.”

However, he did not give American tennis sensation Taylor Fritz the chance to be this happy.

Alcaraz had it easy against the American player and ended up defeating him in straight sets. After the match, Fritz detailed the astounding gameplay of the Spanish player. In the post-match conference, he stated that playing against Alcaraz was more difficult than playing against Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. Fritz confessed to being breathless against Alcaraz, as he did not have any time to take a breather during the match.
