Recently, the American former World Cup alpine ski racer, Lindsey Vonn was subjected to a major backlash after she heaped praise on the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, and called him the GOAT. She was even forced to delete her tweets. Now, she has come up with a clarification of her statement about her long-time friend from Switzerland.

The 4-times World Cup champion and 20-times Grand Slam winner were caught up together recently at the Ski resort of St. Moritz in Switzerland. Both of them were seen making the most of their retirement while gliding down the slope. After seeing Federer’s incredible skills in the sport, she called him the GOAT. And, it didn’t take long for Djokovic fans who believe stats favor the Serb, to take a jibe at this skier.

Vonn’s statement for Federer showcases her admiration for the tennis legend. But what are the criteria to label one as a GOAT? “GOAT or greatest of all time is a subjective title. What makes someone great? Is it statistics? Is it records? Is it impact? Is it character? Is it all of the above? People have differences of opinion and that’s OK. My goat might not be your goat and there will always be a debate. But opinions are just that, opinions and everyone is entitled to them,” said Lindsey Vonn.

She recently added, “I wasn’t forced, I just didn’t want the negative comments ruining my memory. And the post wasn’t a comparison, it was a tribute to my friend who has made a big impact in my life. Everyone just freaks out when the term goat is used. He can be my goat no matter what other people think.

However, there is yet another player in the tennis world who’s quite fond of skiing. What does Vonn say about the Italian tennis superstar Jannik Sinner?

Vonn says Jannik Sinner reminds her of Federer

Sinner has been in stellar form this year and recently he even clinched his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Lindsey Vonn is quite fond of the 22YO Italian’s humble nature. She said, “I always thought it was really special that he [Jannik Sinner] was a former ski racer and that’s obviously where we connected. He’s a pretty shy guy, but he’s really humble and always super kind. I think he has just a great perspective on the sport and I think to a degree, some of that comes from skiing. We’ve talked about it quite a few times.

He’s just a great athlete, very smart and I’m not surprised that he won Australia. I thought he would win before he did, but he’s someone that’s going to be around for a long time. And he really reminds me of Roger, to be honest,” Vonn added. Lindsey Vonn’s love for tennis is quite equal to Federer and Sinner’s love for skiing.
