Love him or hate him, but you can’t ignore this Serbian superstar! Novak Djokovic is considered as one of the greatest tennis players in the world, but he is someone fans love to hate. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has been heckled, jeered, and lambasted by tennis fans and the media throughout his career. Is his attempt to challenge the ‘Fedal’ dominance in tennis history, the main reason behind all this hatred? Well, that’s still a debatable topic! We’ve seen quite a few moments of hatred towards him during the 2025 AO, and now there is a new addition to that list.

Novak Djokovic always had a love-hate relationship with the Aussie crowd, which indeed often gets reflected during his matches. Take for example, last year a fan accused a family of teasing her for supporting Novak Djokovic during a match at the AO. Even this year during his match against Tomas Machac we saw a “drunk” heckler causing a few troubles for the Serbian. Although he took that moment lightly and addressed that guy from the crowd during his on-court interview, we’re now used to seeing these moments in his matches, isn’t it?

A match without a pinch of controversy isn’t a Novak Djokovic thing, perhaps! However, even off-the-court there have been many such instances where we have seen him receiving some hatred from the fans. For example, recently renowned podcaster and athlete, Josh Mansour shared a video clip. In that video clip, he introduced Dabble’s latest feature called ‘Pick Em’. Mansour said that the fans have to pick one out of two options, “less or more.

His first question to the fans was, “Who would you take in their prime Djokovic or Nadal?” Well after hearing this question, we saw the fans splitting into two halves, some of them said Djokovic while others named Rafael Nadal. Then Josh Mansour asked a fan who had picked the Spaniard, “Why Nadal?” In reply to that, the fan said, “Cause Everyone hates Djokovic.” Talking about hatred, well recently Australian broadcaster, Tony Jones stirred a major controversy with his bizarre remarks on Nole.

He was heard saying, “‘Novak, he’s overrated,’ ‘Novak’s a has-been,’ ‘Novak, kick him out.’ Boy, I’m glad they can’t hear me.” After that, a lot of happenings took place in the last few days. We saw Novak Djokovic leaving the court with boos and jeers when he avoided a longer stay during the post-match chat with Channel Nine’s Jim Courier after that incident. Djokovic gave a clarification, Jones apologized and things looked to have calmed down a bit after that. So, there is a lot happening when Djokovic is at the ‘Land Down Under.’

What were the other questions asked by Mansour in the fun-interactive session with the fans? Well, his second question was, “Is Jannik Sinner on the ‘massage cream’ (inaudible) or nor?” In reply to this different fans came up with different opinions, but it was full of laughter! Then the third one was, “Who would you let baby sit you kids: Nick Kyrgios or John McEnroe?” To this, most of the fans named Nick Kyrgios. Reason? “Kyrgios would be pretty fun, I reckon he would let him do pretty wild sh-t,” said a fan.

Then another one said, “Definitely, Nick Kyrgios because when we come home from the night out we could get on with him” What did the fan who picked John McEnroe say? Well, he said, “McEnroe. He’s a skitz! The kids won’t be doing anything wrong.

Have an interesting take?

Interestingly, Novak Djokovic, Nick Kyrgios, and John McEnroe have played the role of a villain at some point in their careers. Perhaps two of them are still playing that role quite efficiently and guess what this striking similarity could be the probable reason which has now brought them closer to each other.

Who’s the biggest supporter of Novak Djokovic in Australia?

Well, we’re talking about Nick Kyrgios‘ strong camaraderie with Novak Djokovic! From being a staunch critic of the Serb to becoming one of his close friends on the Tour, the Aussie has come a long way. The sour relations between them started to change when Novak Djokovic saw Nick Kyrgios was among the fewest ones who stood by him during his time at the 2022 AO when he was literally kicked out of Australia for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID.

Speaking on that, Novak Djokovic once said, “You (Kyrgios) were one of the very few colleagues on the tour to use his platform, use his voice, to support me (during the deportation) and that is something I will never forget.” Kyrgios revealed that Djokovic had then even reached out to him personally on IG to thank him for standing up for him. He said he received “millions of hate messages” once he publicly began to extend his support towards the Serb’s VISA fiasco at that time,

However, even to date, he has never stopped showing his support for his close friend! For example, Nick Kyrgios was recently spotted mocking Jones for his strange remarks on Novak Djokovic. Initially, he took a jibe at Jones through some tweets. In his first tweet, he wrote, “Coming from this clown – couldn’t run around a park this bloke.” Then in the second one, he said, “Why is it always the most un athletic people calling out the best athletes in the world.

After that, we saw him uttering some expletives on Jones while filming a small video clip from the player terrace towards the Nine broadcast booth. Then came his hilarious video clip with comedian Elliot Loney where both of them were seen taking a savage dig at Channel Nine’s Tom Jones. So, considering all of this we feel Nick Kyrgios might possibly be the biggest fan of Novak Djokovic in Australia. What are your thoughts on this, though?
