Being a professional tennis player might often look tempting and glamorous to fans but is it really the case? The 28-year-old Australian player, who is currently out of the tennis courts due to injury reflected on the worst phase of his life. Despite having everything, from people to success and everything, there was a time in his life when he thought of ending it all!

The amount of hard work and the effort a player puts in to reach the grand stage is immense. Not only this, but sometimes the results can go the other way around and it can have a huge toll on the player and there’s no one better than Nick Kyrgios who understands this.

Nick Kyrgios reflects on the hardest time of his life

In a recent interview, Nick Kyrgios opened up about a very dark period in his life. Reflecting on his lowest point, he described a prolonged stretch of around two years that was marked by self-destructive behavior. He said that he was engaging in self-harm activities as a form of recreation.

Despite having caring individuals around him who recognized the abnormality of his actions, Kyrgios was trapped in a cycle of addiction. This was one of the worst phases of his life. Despite doing well in tennis and winning multiple tournaments, he struggled with peace.

“I don’t think there was one selective moment I think it was just all a year and a half to 2 years of just complete just have I think it was it was pretty dark to be honest I want the professional tour drinking every night self-harming. I was burning things on my arm cutting myself for fun and you know I had people around me saying that this was not a normal behaviour I did have people around me who were caring but I just, it was almost the war I kept doing wth addiction,” said Nick Kyrgios while shedding light on the worst phase of his life.

Thus, there was a time in the life of Nick Kyrgios when he had to deal with the darkest phase of his life. However, with time he managed to cope with it and changed it for his good.

Talking about this phase, Nick Kyrgios reflected that there was even a time when he wanted to end everything and commit suicide. He said this because nothing was going right for him at that time.

Despite making it big in tennis back in 2019 and winning tournaments, Nick Kyrgios was now at all happy with himself. Reflecting on the darkest phase, he suggested that there was a time when he even thought of committing suicide.

However, he later suggested that now that he is past that phase, he has set his sights and would be looking to help people who are going through the same situations. While it might not be easy for people to deal with it, a ray of hope from Kyrgios might just do the job.

“All my goal now is to guide people through. Guide people through that sh*t. Because it was brutal for me. It was so hard, I felt so alone. Obviously, it was the point of self-harm and thinking about committing suicide. It was tough,” said Nick while talking about suicidal thoughts.

Thus, Nick Kyrgios has been a tennis great both on and off the court. From being at a point where he thought of ending things to a point where he stands tall as a prominent figure in the tennis world, he has come a long way.
