Alongside World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, Fritz has ignited a dedicated fan following in Turin, turning heads with his sharp play and easy charm. The American sensation began his campaign at the tournament in remarkable form and ousted his Russian counterpart Daniil Medvedev in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. But besides the sensational grit and dominance that Fritz depicted on courts, another factor is capturing attention and it’s the vehement support he received from fans, as can be evidenced in the post shared by his girlfriend Morgan Riddle. 

Riddle took to her Instagram to share a clip from the match and captured the reaction of the audience. The spectators can be seen cheering loudly for the star player and displaying placards with the letters F-R-I-T-Z written on them as they rallied their support behind the star player. And this support is justified given the sensational season that Fritz has witnessed so far. 

Remember, the 27-year-old won two titles this year, one each at Eastbourne and Delray Beach. Besides, he emerged as the runner-up in two events which included the US Open where he lost to Sinner in the finals. But interestingly, it is not just Fritz who is gaining such limelight as fans are also remarkably backing the local boy, Jannik Sinner. 

The Italian star was recently spotted at the Principi di Piemonte hotel where several fans greeted him with a warm chant, “Olé olé olé olé, Sinner Sinner.” Sinner didn’t disappoint his fans either and greeted them while he was protected by the cordon of the police. He was seen shaking hands and hugging his fans, while promising, “See you soon”. Interestingly, Sinner’s team also received a similar reception, with his coach Darren Cahill signing autographs for the fans. Coming back to Taylor Fritz, the support that he is witnessing would definitely help him increase confidence in himself as he desires to make remarkable progress in the tournament.

However, when it comes to the ATP finals, the player shared that the expectations from him were not phenomenal and hence he is expecting himself to perform sensationally and prove his mettle yet again on the courts. 

Engaging in an interaction after ousting Medvedev in the first match, Fritz said, “My first time [at the Nitto ATP Finals], I was the alternate, no one really expected much of me here.” Continuing further, he highlighted how this less expectation from the community helped him improve. “I was playing with house money, no pressure. This time, I’m fifth, and I really want to make it out of the group stage.” He further shared that he is “putting more expectation on myself to do better,” expressing confidence is his latest form.  

Now, as the American player faces Jannik Sinner in the re-match of the US Open finals, it would be interesting to see if he can avenge the defeat and advance with more confidence in the tournament.
