Novak Djokovic might stunned the tennis fraternity with another epic victory at the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals but his Davis Cup and Olympics records will tell fans otherwise. While Djokovic bagged a victory at the ATP tournament this year, he lost against Italy’s tennis prodigy Jannik Sinner during the semi-finals. Following this, Djokovic presents quite disappointing statistics about his Davis Cup and Olympic performances against the world’s great tennis players.
Despite a disappointing 2022, this thirty-six-year-old tennis star received overwhelming compliments from popular tennis personalities like Andy Roddick, Brad Gilbert, and many more. However, it looks like Djokovic needs to fix his record against powerful competitors in the Davis Cup and the Olympics.

Djokovic might outshine others with a great performance but his Davis Cup and Olympics records tell otherwise. Not only did he lose against Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the 2023 Davis Cup semi-finals, but he presented disappointing statistics against the world’s tennis champions. For example, Djokovic was defeated by the world’s former number-one Roger Federer during the 2006 Davis Cup. It was followed by another loss against the world’s number-four at that time, Davydenko at 2008’s Davis Cup. In the same year, Novak suffered another defeat against the world’s number-two Rafael Nadal at the Olympics.

In the next year, Nadal again defeated Djokovic at the 2009 Davis Cup. Novak Djokovic also lost against the world’s number four back then, Andy Murray at the 2012 Olympics, and the world’s number five Zverev during the 2021 Olympics.
Following this, critics think Djokovic truly needs to work on his Davis Cup and Olympic records against tough competitors. However, his colleagues and former tennis champions have yet to agree to that.

While Djokovic fans want the Serbian legend to fix his Davis Cup and Olympics track records, tennis stars like Andy Roddick, and Mark Knowles are in no mood to accept any crap against Djokovic. While Roddick believes Djokovic will soon break Jimmy Connors’ records, Mark Knowles expressed that the Serbian player is one of the best in tennis at the moment.
Knowles commented-“I’ve run out of adjectives to try to describe Novak Djokovic, you know, and it’s, it’s interesting, obviously, I had a long professional career was around some of the all-time greats.”
While Djokovic might appear as a star among the tennis fraternity, his fans still want him to pull a great victory against tennis stalwarts at the Davis Cup and Olympics.
