The Djokovic-Federer rivalry will go down as one of the biggest tennis rivalries of all time. The Serb and the Swiss found themselves on opposite ends of the tennis court on 50 occasions. Novak Djokovic won 27 times, while Roger Federer came out on top in 23 matches. However, despite Djokovic’s narrow margin of dominance, he always had to be at his best against the Swiss Maestro.
In the recently released ‘Boom! Boom! The World Vs Boris Becker’ documentary, Djokovic looked back on his match against Federer to decide the 2014 Wimbledon final. The match lasted almost four hours, and both Djokovic and Federer had to push themselves to the limits.

Wimbledon was Federer’s favorite Grand Slam owing to his sublime playing ability on grass courts. The Swiss still holds the record for having won the most men’s singles Wimbledon Championships, with 8 titles to his name.
In the documentary, Djokovic referred to the 2014 Wimbledon final and said, “That match was a roller coaster.” He also paid homage to Federer’s ability on grass by saying, “Roger on grass, he always requires you to come out as your best self in order to have a chance to win.”

Both Djokovic and Federer had to overcome fierce challenges on their way to the 2014 Wimbledon final. Djokovic had to defeat the likes of Radek Stepanek, Marin Cilic, and Grigor Dimitrov before he cemented his place in the final. For Federer, it was a case of being back in a Grand Slam final after almost two years following a lengthy recovery from niggling back issues.
In the final, both players served up some truly spectacular tennis. Federer won the first set 7-6, but Djokovic took the next two sets 6-4, 7-6. Federer roared back into contention in the third set with a 7-5 win. Ultimately, though, the Swiss legend fell short in the fifth set as Djokovic stormed to a 6-4 win.
