Novak Djokovic has finally found something to cheer this season. After a turbulent start to the year, the Serb won his 21st Grand Slam title earlier this month. He put on a magnificent display to defeat Nick Kyrgios of Australia in the summit clash. Although the former World Number 1 lost the opening set in that match, he came back strongly to overcome the challenge of Kyrgios in four sets.

Earlier this year, the Swiss maestro, Roger Federer, revealed that he’ll be making a comeback to tennis at the Laver Cup in September. Also, joining him in Team Europe will be the likes of Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal. Recently, Djokovic provided exciting news for tennis fans across the globe.

Novak Djokovic confirms his Laver Cup participation

Tennis fans will witness a dream team at the Laver Cup as Djokovic confirmed that he’ll play alongside Federer, Nadal, and Murray for Team Europe at the Laver Cup. The three-day tournament will be held in London on 23rd September.

Talking about this, Djokovic said, “I?m really excited to be joining Team Europe again for the Laver Cup at London?s O2 arena in September.”

Further, he added, “It?s the only competition where you can play in a team environment with guys that you?re normally competing against and to be joining Rafa, Roger and Andy ? three of my biggest all-time rivals ? it?s going to be a truly unique moment in the history of our sport.”

Which team has won the Laver Cup?

In the four editions of the Laver Cup played to date, Team Europe has dominated the tournament, winning on all four occasions. The inaugural edition was held in 2017. Subsequently, it took place every year, except in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Further, the tournament has seen some exciting matchups, such as Federer and Nadal playing doubles together. With the ‘Big Four’ in one team, we certainly cannot wait for the three-day extravaganza to begin.
