American sensation Taylor Fritz has come out in support of girlfriend Morgan Riddle’s Tik-Tok video. In the TikTok video, Morgan described what life is like on the ATP Tour. The video in no time caught everyone’s eye, and currently has 3.7 million views on it. Even though Morgan received huge praise for the video, a part of the social media world also criticized her for multiple reasons.

When asked about his take on the video, Taylor Fritz came out in full support of his girlfriend. He said, “I think what she did was awesome for our sport. It got a ton of people looking at it.”
The American No. 1, who is in the 4th round of Indian Wells, spoke about how tennis is not such a popular sport in the USA and how the video helped people better understand the sport.

While speaking to the media, a senior tennis journalist asked Fritz about his thoughts on his girlfriend’s effort to glamorize tennis through her Tik-Tok video. He took no time in coming out to support the video. Reacting to the people who showed disagreement or dislike towards the video, the 24-year-old termed them as the ‘older fan’. He put forward his point by comparing the people to himself.

He said, “I think you get your typical older fan maybe like upset about it. I don’t understand how anyone can get upset about it. I’m the one that’s a professional tennis player, I’m the one that does this for a living. I 100% agree with everything in that video.”
In the video, Morgan alleged that tennis is not considered a very popular and cool sport in the United States of America. Boyfriend Fritz felt no different and elaborated on his girlfriend’s point further.
World No. 20 gave examples, suggesting how tennis is not so popular in the country. Supporting his answer, he explained how tennis is not much discussed on pioneer sports platforms such as ESPN or SportsCenter.

He said, “People know a couple, they know what the Grand Slams are, a couple little things about it, they’re like, What are you talking about? No, tennis isn’t talked about on ESPN unless it’s a very select few or under certain circumstances. You’re never going to hear SportsCenter talk about, Oh, so-and-so American won their match at, like, Monte-Carlo. It’s not popular like that.”

Fritz on the tour
On the tennis front, Fritz has had a decent run so far. The American started his 2022 season with 2 wins at the ATP Cup, followed by reaching the 4th round at the Australian Open. He further reached the quarterfinals in Dallas and the second round in Acapulco.
Following the loss in Acapulco, he entered the Indian Wells as the 20th seed. Receiving a first-round bye, coupled with two match wins, Fritz currently is in the 4th round, ready to face the 29th seeded Alex De Minaur.
