Can there be an end to Nick Kyrgios taking shots at Jannik Sinner? Probably not. The Aussie is still targeting the Italian and everyone who’s supporting him in the doping case. Ever since it came to public knowledge that Sinner tested positive for a banned substance Clostebol, in August, Kyrgios has been after him. And now, he’s going after those who believe Sinner is innocent as well. After targeting Andy Roddick and Sara Errani, the Aussie has taken a hilarious jab at none other than the former German legend Boris Becker. But why?

It all started when a user named @danieleminerva dropped a post on X, dated December 29. The fan was in support of Jannik Sinner in the doping case and wanted to convey the same on social media. The motive was to stop the hate against the World No. 1. Trying to prove Sinner’s innocence, the fan claimed that he wasn’t given preferential treatment in the case.

The post highlighted the statement given by ITIA’s CEO Karen Moorhouse, who tried to clarify that there was no preferential treatment given to Sinner or any other top player. Some believe players with a higher status receive softer treatment. Each case is different and based on individual facts. Cases can also be quite complex, so it’s not fair to compare two situations as details are always critical, read Moorhouse’s statement. Former ATP pro and six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker, who’s in support of Sinner, decided to echo this sentiment further. Sharing his response to the original post, he wrote on X, “We should take time and read the facts !”

But then, another user, @mpshe_shamai, tried to present an opposing argument. Quoting Becker’s post, the user wrote, “Which facts: Being cleared in one day!? Did they take a hair sample in Sinner’s case like they did with Iga!? Did they get a purchase receipt for the Clostebol or an item on a bank statement was sufficient How can a qualified pharmacist take a banned substance to the US.” And, it didn’t long for Nick Kyrgios to take notice of this war of words. He didn’t hold back as usual. “Don’t trust a criminal brother” Kyrgios wrote in the replies with a laughing emoji.

For the unversed, Boris Becker served eight months of prison back in 2022. It’s because he was found guilty of hiding £2.5 million worth of assets. He was initially sentenced to two and a half years in jail in the UK. However, in December 2022, he was released from prison and deported back to his home country.

Coming back to Kyrgios, well he’s showing no signs of slowing down with his jabs at Sinner.

While Kyrgios is relentlessly going after Sinner, he is receiving flak on social media himself. On X, popular influencer Bastien Fachan decided to take a swipe at Kyrgios after his performance at the Brisbane International. The Aussie recently made a return to court after recovering from injuries. And, while he managed to win his doubles match partnering the 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic, defeating Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies by 6-4, 6-7, 10-8, Kyrgios couldn’t replicate the same performance in the singles.

He was up against France’s rising young talent and World No.30 Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and although the battle was close, the 21-year-old Frenchman had the last laugh. He beat the Aussie with a scoreline of 6-7, 7-6, 6-7.

Reflecting on Kyrgios’ singles score and an early exit at the hands of a young Perricard, Fachan shared a post on X. Taking a jab at Kyrgios, he wrote, “Nick Kyrgios getting 7-6 6-7 7-6-ed off the court by a server 10 years younger than him”

But Kyrgios was never going to let it go. He took a shot back, writing, “Still haven’t failed no drug tests tho,” with a laughing emoji. Well, no prizes for guessing who he was targeting there.

It will be interesting to see if Jannik Sinner at any stage responds to Kyrgios’ harsh remarks, because the Aussie has been having a go at him for a long time now. Do you think Sinner will respond? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
