World no. 2 Daniil Medvedev is on a hiatus right now following his hernia surgery. He has been off the court following Miami Open where he reached the quarter-finals. The Russian star will be playing Geneva Open to get practice for the Roland Garros. Recently, Medvedev shared his thoughts on the ban implemented by the Wimbledon authorities.

Leaving the decision to the authorities
The reporters asked the Russian about his take on the ban ahead of his participation at the Geneva Open.
“There has been a lot of talk around it. I just tried to follow what’s happening because I don’t have any decisions to make. It’s right now about Wimbledon itself, the ATP. Maybe the British government is involved.”
Daniil Medvedev wants to play for Wimbledon
The world no. 2 also acknowledged the variant views that different players have propagated.“
“It’s a tricky situation and like every situation in life, you ask 100 players. Everybody’s going to give a different opinion.” Daniil Medvedev did not shy away from accepting the fact that he would like to play for Wimbledon.
Furthermore, Medvedev explained, “(If) I can play: I’m going to be happy to play in Wimbledon. I love this tournament. (If) I cannot play: well, I’m going to try to play other tournaments and prepare well for next year if I have the chance to play.” Unhesitatingly, he has shown a hope and desire to play Wimbledon.

Various prominent players like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have raised their concerns over the ban imposed by Wimbledon. They believe that sports should not be a part of politics and that the players should be able to play without any concern.
