Monfils is a player loved by many for his showmanship in the sport. Therefore, when Tennis Weekly Podcast shared, “Gael Monfils disqualified for a code of conduct violation against the supervisor at UTS Oslo. He will not play again this weekend. Replaced by Lucas Pouille. No further information given”, fans were left feeling incredulous, to say the least.

Myles David, the tennis content creator, felt incredulous that Monfils was removed from an exhibition event. 

One user said that if one gets disqualified from an exhibition, it is time for them to go home and hang up their racket. They further coaxed him to go home and take care of his baby while supporting his wife. 

One commenter wondered how one player gets disqualified from an exhibition event. 

One fan eagerly wanted to know Monfils’ transgressions and was confused at how it was kept a secret.

There is no history of Monfils being disqualified from any tournaments in the past. Additionally, there haven’t been many instances where he has been handed a code of conduct violation. One of the few moments took place last year.

Playing in one of his favorite American cities, Washington D.C., Monfils faced Alexander Bublik in the second round. He led the match comfortably as he won the first set, and the score displayed 5-3 in his favor. Bublik served and found himself leading 40-0. During the fourth serve, Monfils started walking towards his bench as Bublik served.

The Kazakhstani player won the game, and Monfils had an argument with the chair umpire for giving away points. After a few words were exchanged, Monfils found himself in violation of the code of conduct. However, he continued playing normally and won the bout, to then be eliminated in the next round.
