Andy Roddick’s tips to Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios, Novak Djokovic and others
2003 US Open winner Andy Roddick was also one such player in his playing days, who couldn’t control the grudge and used to throw racquets on the court. Surprisingly he was penalized only once in his career and he gives credit to the trick he uses to express his anger.
Andy suggests a similar trick to current Tennis stars. For throwing a racquet, Andy said, “While thowing a racquet, its beneficial to throw it face down, so like this.” After a quick demo, he justifies the reason behind it as he added, “It doesn’t go anywhere, you are not going to hit anyone. It will land (in) like a little circle of 4 ft.”
Also for hitting the ball in anger, Roddick says that it will be useful to hit it “upwards” rather than a horizontal hit. It will surely alert people about the ball coming down and also the impact won’t be a deadly one.
