Can Nick Kyrgios transition into coaching? It sounds rather absurd, fans will likely question whether the Aussie possesses the temperament to coach someone patiently while working out related intricacies. His, almost always, raging on-court demeanor doesn’t notch a bulk load of points in favor of his coaching aspirations. However, he has extended a surprising coaching offer to one of the most highly decorated boxing star’s daughters.
The Australian sensation hasn’t stepped on the tour since his last appearance at the Stuttgart Open in 2023. Plagued by injuries, the Aussie thought it was better for him to step away from action and focus on recovering. In the meantime, he shifted his focus to other areas in the sport. He took up several gigs as a commentator for ESPN and notably, caught flak from fans at the US Open after expressing ‘inhospitable’ feelings for Jannik Sinner due to his much-aired doping controversy.
Despite the occasional hue and cry, Kyrgios has maintained a healthy profile with his peers. The ‘Bad Boy of Tennis’ hopped on the ‘Naomi Osaka x Hana Kuma’ YouTube channel, featuring boxing legend Mike Tyson, and discussed personal growth and life beyond the sport.

Seeing as Mike’s daughter, Milan Tyson, fancies playing tennis and shares the utmost admiration for Serena Williams, the Aussie said, “They told me you’re looking for a tennis coach”. Later, he offered his services highlighting that he “might transition into coaching soon so I’ll be free.” For those unaware, Tyson’s daughter has played with top players like Novak Djokovic and received coaching lessons from Frenchman Patrick Mouratoglou.

When all’s said and done and Kyrgios considers retirement, we will see what he chooses next. For now, almost every sporting enthusiast is keen to witness Tyson’s highly-anticipated fight with American Jake Paul on November 15. And, of course, fans are counting the days before Kyrgios himself returns to the ATP as well.

However, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist expressed his desire to perform in the Melbourne Slam and claimed that he was physically on par with the required level of play. “I played that amazing year in 2022. Then at the finals in Wimbledon and US Open, that’s when I started feeling some issues in my wrist. I had that wrist reconstruction and now I’m feeling amazing. It was a 15 miracle percent chance that I was going to get back to playing at this level and here we are. To get back out there in front of the home fans is going to be sick.”
With little to no practice against formidable competitors, Kyrgios will likely have a challenging start to the season, if he returns at all. However, the 29-year-old will enjoy being the home favorite at the AO, racking his confidence and chances to succeed by a notch.
