Another major hint for Roger Federer‘s surprise presence at the Laver Cup 2025! It has been a while since Rafael Nadal publicly announced that he will be a part of Team Europe’s roster this year. While everyone is trying to calculate if the Spaniard is planning to take a Federer-like retirement, there are high hopes of seeing the retired pro at this year’s event. As the tournament recently announced changes in mentorship, another arrow points towards Federer’s entry.

The tennis fans took their attention off the ongoing tussle at the French Open as Laver Cup’s official website came up with a grand announcement. John McEnroe, who has been leading Team World with two consecutive victories in 2022 and 2023, is set to bid farewell to his esteemed job after this year. While it is obvious that the defending champions need another legend to lead them, Andre Agassi has come forward to take charge.

However, besides the major change in Team World’s mentorship, the website also made a major announcement coming up soon for the rival team Europe as well. “Borg’s successor as Team Europe Captain starting in 2025 will be announced in the coming days,” the announcement post said, mentioning the fact that a new face is yet to be unveiled.

Coming in with a positive response, he said, “I see myself doing that one day.” Along with expressing his own desire to hold the position, the Swiss tennis maestro also wondered if he could have Rafael Nadal sharing the place with him. “Maybe it evolves that Rafa and I will do it together. I would be super flexible,” he said, adding a touch of friendship to the glorious opportunity.

Although there’s still no confirmation about Federer’s entry as the captain, it is evident that the fans only wish to see him take the position after Bjorn Borg.
