Did Anna Kalinskaya Date Nick Kyrgios? A Relationship That Ended in Flames

The ‘bad boy’ of tennis finds his name in the headlines for various reasons. Whether it be because of his on-court actions, or his current new gig as a commentator, he stays under the spotlight. However, fans have been eager to hear more about his love life. As the controversial magnet of the tennis world doesn’t usually keep his personal stuff under wraps, his relationship with Russian WTA star Anna Kalinskaya in 2020 was leaked too, and later its abrupt end was also disclosed.

Out of all the speculations that have ever surrounded Nick Kyrgios’ career, there have been many trending ones about his dating history. There have been rumors about Nick Kyrgios being in a relationship with the Russian WTA star Anna Kalinskaya. Were the rumors about their relationship credible?

The tennis stars were first rumored to be together in August in 2019, after Kyrgios was spotted cheering on the Russian at the 2019 Citi Open in Washington, USA.

Then in 2020, the Aussie made an off-court appearance with Kalinskaya at an LA Lakers basketball match that was played at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. While fans smelled something beyond a sporting relationship, the trending appearance confirmed that they were dating each other.

Before this, Kyrgios was already seen spending time with Kalinskaya and watching her matches and the Russian didn’t hide her admiration for Kyrgios as well. Kalinskaya said that the Aussie looked “amazing ” when commenting on a post on Instagram from the US Open in 2019. Kyrgios published a story on his Instagram account celebrating Kalinskaya’s win over Sloane Stephens in the 1st round of the US Open in the same year.

Although it was great news for their fans to find out about their relationship, it didn’t last long enough to be admired. Interestingly, in an Instagram Live session, Kalinskaya revealed the status of her relationship with Kyrgios quite directly.

From “amazing to “bad”: A relationship that ended too soon

Born and brought up in Moscow, Kalinskaya started her tennis career at the very young of 17. Being a very private person, Kalinskaya revealed very little about her time spent dating Kyrgios. The admirers were eager to know about the relationship status of Anna Kalinskaya and Nick Kyrgios ever since the pair were spotted together several times. But soon there were rumors of a breakup.

Breakup rumors began circulating after Kalinskaya posted a black-and-white photo to her Instagram, with the caption, “You’re not a bad boy, you are simply a bad person,” with the “bad boy” reference likely aimed at Kyrgios’ nickname. She would later change the caption. Then as the events turned out, the Russian tennis star took a confident step to clear the rumors by answering a fan’s question.

During an Instagram live session, one of Kalinskaya’s fans directly raised a concerning question, “Are you still dating Nick?” While everyone expected a twisted response, Kalinskaya came forward with a direct clarification as she mentioned, “No I don’t! We broke up. We aren’t friends. You all are his fans and it’s cool, but I’m not going to talk about him. I have some respect for me as well, please. Thanks.”

The relationship between these two tennis stars marked a completely unexpected end. While their fans wanted to keep cherishing the bond between the two, it didn’t last long enough to allow moments to be celebrated.
