The Swiss Superstar Roger Federer had all the answers against almost every player he faced on the court. But while off the court after his retirement, he has been puzzled as to what to do next. For some time, he was quite dormant in tennis activities after his retirement, but now that his beloved grass season has arrived, he has decided to step up and take part in certain tennis activities. Although there were some rumors that made rounds that he will be a commentator this Wimbledon, Federer quashed them right away and made sure that he will be spending a couple of days in the SW19 in some capacity. With requests piling up, the Swiss Maestro’s dilemma was revealed by the author of his biography recently.

Though he won’t commentate this year, Federer already made active pursuits this year in Wimbledon. He teamed up with the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton and visited the training location of ball boys and ball girls for the grand slam event.

Roger Federer is in a bit of confusion as to what to do after retirement. He clearly still loves tennis, and that has now been evident in his Wimbledon endeavors. He loves children as evidenced by his very many charity work for them. Federer rejected almost 1200 requests from people asking him to participate in events. Simon Graf, author of the ‘Roger Federer effect’ tweeted about the same recently.

He tweeted, quoting Federer, “I reject almost everything. That’s the part I enjoy the least. An enormous number of requests come in. Only for the foundation. I asked Janine (Händel, the CEO): “How are things going?” She said she’d had 1200 inquiries in the last six months.”

He blames himself for rejecting people for the business, as he was the one who told them to come to him after he retired.

Roger Federer’s predicament

Federer says that he has to treat the requests meticulously and pick and choose what to reject and what not to. That is why it is a big predicament.

He says, “We have to treat everything seriously, look at the important requests carefully and take the time to reject properly. And that’s just the foundation part. Then you also have the business part. It’s my fault. I told a lot of people, “Get back to me when I’ve stopped.”

Thus, Federer still gets money from his sponsors but it remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to play exhibition matches. With no pressure on his shoulders to win any tournament, that would be a nice prospect.
