Sebastian Korda was the hope of many American fans this year when the season began. He beat Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open and made it to the tournament’s quarterfinal. His form, however, would be short-lived. His matches in the Masters and the rest of the Grand Slams in 2023 leave much to be desired. Improvement is the only thing on his mind at the moment. Being in the same generation as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, he aims to rise up to their level one day and become big rivals of theirs.

Korda was sidelined earlier this year due to a wrist injury. Now, he announced his return to the Tour by repeating his Australian Open feat in the Shanghai Masters and has become the center of attention once again.

The 23-year-old American player is steadily rising this season and has given many great performances. His efforts helped him make a name for himself, but an injury sidelined him. Now, as he returns to the Shanghai Masters, he showed once again why he is a good prospect. After his recent win, Korda stated that he doesn’t believe he is in sight of any players but aims to improve to fight Alcaraz and Sinner toe-to-toe one day.

He said, “Yeah, I mean, they obviously have better results than me. I don’t think I’m under the radar in any sort. You know, just have some good results here and there and hopefully be in the talks with them. But, yeah, they’re incredible players, and hopefully, we’ll be playing against each other for many, many years.”

Although Korda remains humble about his growth, the tennis world is lauding the player for his improved performances. With his feat in the Shanghai Masters, he deserves all the praise.

Korda returns to form with a bang

The current world No.26 stepped into the Shanghai Masters with the usual aim of going far. He went all out right off the bat as he had to face Medvedev in round two. He beat the Russian star once again in straight sets and moved on to round three. Korda is the third player this year to beat the world No.3 twice in straight sets. The other two players to do this are Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
