John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg believe in having a head-to-head competition against each other even today. From the time they started playing till today when they even guide their respective Laver Cup teams, they have always stood against each other. On the athletic front, no doubt carrying 11 Grand Slam titles, the 67-year-old Bjorn Borg has always carried a proud lead.
But even though Borg was great at his game, there were a lot of things in terms of personality that gave his opponent an edge. Recently, a similar situation came to light when Younes El Aynaoui revealed his forever pick between the two while stating the factor that makes McEnroe famous even though he failed to break his Swedish opponent’s record.

Recently, the Moroccan former tennis player, in an interview with Puntodebreak, talked about his childhood idol, whom he watched while growing up. He said, “I always liked John McEnroe’s way of playing—aggressive and always forward.” When asked about Borg, he mentioned how there is a difference between their personalities because, somewhere down the line, McEnroe is fans’ favorite and quite popular than his opponent.
Aynaoui stated, “Not so much, he was a little more boring, he didn’t show anything, he was always quiet. When you’re young, you tend to look at those who are most alive, those who show emotions.” Nevertheless, it won’t be wrong to say that the way the American lit up the atmosphere with his presence was something that made him more popular among the tennis crowd.
However, in their era, they were no less than celebrities, and even today, they have their own audience. In addition, just before Wimbledon, there was one more factor that made John McEnroe the best, not only against Borg but among all the rivals of his era.

John McEnroe is ruling the commentators’ world
Before Wimbledon, a massive revelation came to light regarding the sum that the seven-time Grand Slam champion would be receiving to be a part of the BBC’s Wimbledon commentary team. As per Yahoo UK reports, his paycheck ranges between £150,000 and £199,999 for being a commentator throughout the tournament.
In addition, he has only won $12 million in prize money, which is apparently less than his opponent. With his personality, he has created a place for himself in the tennis world. His current net worth, which is estimated to be around $100 million, has made him stand out on his own. Not only does it display his popularity, but it also states that he is considered the best in the business.
