Controversial Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios recently shared his thoughts on the seemingly unstoppable force that is Novak Djokovic. In an interview, Kyrgios was asked who could stop Djokovic from winning another Wimbledon title. In his usual confident self, Kyrgios nominated himself as the biggest challenger for the legendary Serb. Djokovic, the seven-time Wimbledon champion, has already tasted victories at the Australian Open and the French Open this year, cementing his status as the front-runner to capture all four Grand Slam titles in a single year.
Considering the Serb’s record, Kyrgios’ statement might come as a shock to many fans. But, grass is by far the Aussie’s favorite surface, having achieved a career-high Grand Slam finish at the last year’s Wimbledon Championships. However, when the Aussie played against Djokovic last year in the finals at SW19, he lost in four sets – 4?6, 6?3, 6?4, 7?6. It looks like, this time around, he is ready to avenge his defeat.

Reminiscing about their encounter at Wimbledon in 2022, where Kyrgios played his first Grand Slam singles final, the fiery rivals reflected on the tournament. Despite an impressive performance, Djokovic eventually won by the final score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3). Kyrgios acknowledged the significance of the event and admitted, ?Of course my first Slam final feels amazing. Next time I’ll try to ride the emotional wave a little smoother but I realize how much was on the line.”
But while acknowledging Djokovic’s exceptional abilities, he conceded that going up against the Serbian was a big challenge. “I think if I had served like I did that day against anyone other than Djokovic in the final, I would have [won],” the Aussie said, as reported by Tennis Head

The Australian star’s journey to Wimbledon this year was not without its share of setbacks. Kyrgios endured a knee and leg injury, forcing him to miss the beginning of the 2023 season. Unfortunately, his comeback was short-lived as he faced a straight sets defeat to Wu Yibing at the Stuttgart Open.
Despite these setbacks, Kyrgios remains undeterred and determined to make a strong impact at the Wimbledon Championships. As the highly anticipated grass-court championships draws closer, Kyrgios is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation.
