Daniil Medvedev was up against Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of the tournament. However, his campaign ended early after an unexpected loss against the Bulgarian star. During the post-match interview after his defeat against Dimitrov, the Russian star opened up about the unfortunate incident. His action has been trending on social media heavily, having caught the attention of the tennis community.

Talking about it, he said, “A middle finger? Oh no, I just looked at my nail like that. Why would I do that to this beautiful Parisian audience?”

Further, he went on to add, “I have a lot of French friends. They don’t seem to like this tournament too much, maybe there’s a reason. I play better here when there’s no crowd.”
