Novak Djokovic has been in the limelight ever since his vaccination saga in Melbourne. The ATP World No. 1 was deported from Australia, because of his vaccination status. Following the unfortunate circumstances in Australia, Djokovic recently opened up in an interview with the BBC. His comments took the world by surprise as he stated that he is willing to lose out on titles, but won’t change his stance about the vaccine.

Reacting to his statement, star coach Patrick Mouratoglou expressed his views on the subject. Even though Mouratoglou seemed surprised by Novak’s statement, he still supported the Serbian, calling it an “extremely powerful” decision.

Novak Djokovic recently spoke to BBC about his vaccine status. He stood firm on his decision to not get vaccinated. He said, “I understand that and support fully the freedom to choose you know whether you want to get vaccinated or not. I’ve always represented and always supported the freedom to choose what you put into your body.”

Reacting to Djokovic’s statement, Patrick took to Instagram, putting forward his views on the matter.

The French coach came out in support of Djokovic. He appreciated Novak for standing firm on his beliefs, at a time when he’s competing against Federer and Nadal to become the greatest of all time. “He’s the one that is winning the most grand slams every year average, and he puts his belief in not getting vaccinated above this race to become the greatest. So, that’s extremely powerful.”

He also added, “I think that someone who stands by his beliefs, even though the immense majority of the people are going against him, deserves total respect.”
