With major names shifting to an advanced version of tennis, many have started to fear that the craze for tennis go away sooner. But, Andre Agassi does not offer the same opinion. After having played both sports, the American legend has opinions of his own.

Speaking about the same, Agassi, in a recent interview talked about the two sports while highlighting major differences between them. While suggesting that playing tennis could help a pickleball player a lot, he did not think the vice-versa could be possible.

In a recent interview, Andre Agassi came ahead and talked about the ongoing debate between the two sports. Talking about pickleball and tennis, Agassi suggested that pickleball skills can somewhat help in tennis, but it doesn’t work the other way around. Tennis has unique challenges with strings, a long racket, and a big playing area. Pickleball is simpler in comparison.

Agassi thinks growing up playing pickleball won’t make you a tennis pro because tennis is a whole different challenge but it can certainly be the other way around. Despite the popularity of pickleball, Agassi insists tennis remains special and demanding. He refused to put it on the same level as the newer sport. So, while pickleball is fun, tennis is still the ‘whole different animal’ that holds a unique place in sports.

“When you have tennis as your main background, you got strings, you got a long lever, you have all sorts of exaggerated spins, and all sorts of real estate to cover. So there’s a lot of high wire dancing that goes into that then you go to a paddle that doesn’t have this, the strings and the grip and the and the ability to maybe get a bowl up and down quite as quick, you go to a wiffle maybe the bowls more you know, you know, it doesn’t listen to your every command the same way a tennis ball,” said Agassi about the debate.

“I don’t think if you grew up playing pickleball you will ever graduate to tennis because that demand is a whole different animal,” Agassi concluded.

Thus, Andre Agassi came ahead and claimed that despite the on growing popularity of pickleball, it cannot replace the intensity and the competitiveness that tennis brings in.
