It’s no secret that Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic had a dodgy relationship in the past. However, it all changed when Kyrgios stood up for the Serb during his difficult time at the Australian Open. Since then, their bromance kind of started as Djokovic reached out to the Aussie player on Instagram.
Recently, in the press conference at Wimbledon, Kyrgios talked about his evolved relationship with the Serb. According to him, they are definitely having a ‘bromance’ at the moment. Ahead of their all-important Wimbledon Championships 2022 final, two players exchanged a few words during their respective practice sessions.

Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic had a brief interaction before the Wimbledon final
Notably, Kyrgios and Djokovic were practicing with their teams at the Aorangi practice courts at Wimbledon. After the practice sessions, both players had a brief interaction where Djokovic said to Kyrgios, “It took you five years to say something nice about me, haha.“
Kyrgios replied, “But I defended you when it mattered!“. The Serb was quick to show respect as he continued, “You did, I appreciate that.“

In the past, Kyrgios blasted Djokovic by comparing him to Roger Federer and called his famous celebration as cringeworthy. During the 2019 Wimbledon final, he posted a tweet to show his support for Federer.
Earlier at the Australian Open this year, Djokovic was going through a tough time regarding his visa cancellation. During that time, Kyrgios was the only player who supported the Serb. Now, it seems like the two players became quite good friends on the tour.
Can Kyrgios stop Djokovic’s winning run at the Wimbledon Championships 2022?
In the semi-final against Cameron Norrie, Djokovic had a tough fight as the Brit produced promising tennis during the first set. However, the Serb won the next three sets to clinch his fourth final appearance in a row at the Wimbledon Championships. Previously, he won three consecutive finals here and won six titles at the Championships in total.

Now, he faces Nick Kyrgios challenge in the final, who got a walkover to the final due to Rafael Nadal’s unfortunate injury. Interestingly, Djokovic never won against the Aussie player in their previous two meetings. During those match-ups, Djokovic has never won a set against the Australian.
