The American tennis player, who is quite active on his social media accounts, recently took to his Instagram to share a meme about himself. And made fun of the double category by hinting that he might just be a Forrest Gump forever rather than playing a double tennis match. As for Forrest Gump, he would just like to be a simple-minded tennis player who solely focuses on playing in the singles category. And really doesn’t want to try anything new, like participating in the doubles or the mixed doubles category in the sport.

He shared the meme that depicted a scenario for a tennis player. Play doubles or go for a run was the instruction, and below that came a video illustrating the 25-year-old tennis player’s response to the scenario. And even in that visual representation, the legendary Tom Hanks running away scene represented the American tennis decision.

And while sharing the meme, Opelka made it clear that his choice is literally the same as the one represented over there. Not only that, but a few days ago, the American tennis star also slammed the Doubles category format after facing a huge drawback at Indian Wells himself. 

When Opelka slammed the Doubles format 

During the Indian Wells tournament, the American ATP star bluntly expressed his opinion and slammed one of the oldest tennis traditions. He took to his Instagram account to share the scenario of the Double’s category. The 25-year-old stated that there were four walkouts in just two rounds of the doubles matches.

Nevertheless, Cameron Norrie/Lucas Miedler and Francisco Cerundolo/Diego Schwartzman, the popular doubles duo, pulled out of the tournament, prioritizing the single category. And he pointed out that only top-seeded players have managed to draw a large audience in the doubles category.
